Perhaps the word ‘conversion’ isn't the most effective one to explain this experience. Paul didn't convert from a life of sin to a life of virtue. As he set in regards to the work of persecuting the followers of Jesus, he did not assume consider himself to be doing something mistaken. On the opposite, he thought he was doing God’s will. Also, Paul did not convert from one faith to a different; he didn't think of himself as leaving Judaism to turn out to be a Christian.
